Alfred Walker - Dos Rheingold
Alfred Walker has been praised by Opera News for his “inky bass-baritone and clear projection.” Recent engagements include the title role in Der fliegende Holländer at Oper Köln and Seattle Opera, the Four Villains in Les contes d’Hoffmann at Komische Opera Berlin, Amonasro in Aida at the Utah Opera, Bluebeard in Bluebeard’s Castle at the New Japan Philharmonic, Pizarro in Fidelio at the Caramoor International Music Festival, Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra and Verdi’s Requiem with the Boston Philharmonic. In future seasons, he returns to the Metropolitan Opera and makes debuts with the Teatro Municipal de Santiago and Sydney Symphony.
Deborah Nansteel - Flosshilde
Deborah Nansteel recently completed the Washington National Opera Domingo-Cafritz Young Artist Program, where she performed many roles including Tisbe in La Cenerentola, Third Lady in Die Zauberflöte, and the Cat in Jeanine Tesori’s The Lion, the Unicorn, and Me. She recently earned the highly esteemed Betty Allen Award and a grant from the Sullivan Foundation. This season, Ms. Nansteel sings Gertrude in Roméo et Juliette with Santa Fe Opera; Suzuki in Madama Butterfly with Arizona Opera; La Duegne in Cyrano with Michigan Opera Theatre; and returns to Washington National Opera in La fille du régiment and Champion.
Soloman Howard - Fafner
Soloman Howard garners high praise from the press for his vivid performances on the great opera and concert stages of the world. Soloman Howard previously sang at North Carolina Opera as Colline in La bohème and Muhammad Ali in Approaching Ali.
Soloman Howard’s 2016-17 season includes his return to the Metropolitan Opera in performances of Aida conducted by Marco Armiliato and Daniele Rustioni. Highlights also feature performance of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 with Christoph Eschenbach and the National Symphony Orchestra and with Gustavo Dudamel conducting the Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra in debut appearances on many of Europe’s most famous stages including El Palau de la Música Catalana in Barcelona, Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg, and the Musikverein in Vienna. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.
